Online event | Monday 25 September

Many countries that were once colonized now have crippling debts that impact on public services and their ability to address the impacts of climate change on their citizens.

There is a growing Global South led movement demanding debt cancellation, and for the Global North to start paying its climate debt and reparations.

This event will explore the links between global debt, climate justice and the legacies of colonialism. There will be time to hear a conversation with our speakers, ask questions and take part in a group discussion around the issues, and our new magazine Decolonize Now.

There are two time options:
9.30am BST – joined from South Africa by Sunny Morgan, co-founder of Debt for Climate. Register via Zoom.
6.00pm BST – joined from Barbados by Geneva Oliverie from the Caribbean Policy Development Centre. Register via Zoom.

We will be launching our new ‘NI meet ups’ – reader led groups where people can get together, discuss the content of the magazine and get to know each other. Join us to find out more.

Based in Scotland and prefer an in-person event? We'll be in Glasgow on Friday 15 September.

This project was funded by the European Journalism Centre through the Solutions Journalism Accelerator. This fund is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
