Vanishing of the Bees

November 2009

directed and produced by Maryam Henein and George Langworthy

This doc’s strength is to give a voice to mainstream US beekeepers deeply critical of the industrialization of their profession. It’s a pretty good introduction to the crisis, covered in the September issue of New Internationalist. The cinematography though is sometimes disappointing – why not show us the massive extent of US monoculture at the heart of the problem?
