Dalai Lama’s birthday celebration

You are invited to a celebration of the Dalai Lama’s birthday to be held on Tuesday 7th of July at 6pm at the Global Education Centre, level 2 James Smiths Building, on the corner of Cuba and Manners Street Wellington.

We will be screening Tibet’s Cry for Freedom a documentary: “Through the eyes of the Dalai Lama and exiled Tibetans in 2007 and 2008, Tibet’s Cry for Freedom’ explores both past and present in Tibet’s long suffering non-violent freedom struggle. Discover the truth about Tibet’s history and ponder the future of a nation whose time is fast running out.” The celebration will raise funds to sponsor a Tibetan child through the Tibetan Children Relief Society of New Zealand. Sponsorships support Tibetan refugee children at the Tibetan Childrens’ Village in Dharamsala and the Tibetan Homes Foundation in Mussoorie. These refugee children have made the perilous journey across the Himalayas and need our support to be educated by their own people, in their own language and in their own culture.

Over the last year the number of New Zealand sponsorships has gone down as the economic climate continues to worsen.

There will be raffles and birthday cake.

Entry by koha.
