Video: Camila Vallejo interview

Camila Vallejo became a high profile spokesperson for the Chilean student movement as vice-president of the Federation of Students at the University of Chile.

youth_200pxOctober’s New Internationalist explores how she and, fellow revolutionary student leader, Giorgio Jackson helped shake up a movement that gained major public support, regularly bringing half a million people out on the street.

These clips were taken from an interview with Roberto Navarrete in the documentary Chile’s Student Revolutionaries.

The more documentaries with our own voices, the better. It looks to me that within the 99.9% the common challenge is to hear and see each other, and to drown out the noise of corporate-owned TV, Movies, radio, and print, in Latin America, Asia, Africa, and also in Europe. The US has Democracy Now! and Z-Net (though they are struggling to stay alive). Canada and Quebec are still too middle class, but that is changing fast. Everywhere people are 'waking up' and joining in fighting the lies and the plans of the 0.1%.
