Ethical consumption

Re: Dieter Gerhardt’s letter (NI 371) – there is already an ethical rating system of global (commercial) enterprises being developed by the Ethical Consumer Research Association (http://www.ethicalconsumer.org). Their very readable and informative bimonthly magazine Ethical Consumer rates companies and products according to defined criteria in respect of Environment, Treatment of Animals, Treatment of People, Extras (such as boycotts against them) and a new ‘ethiscore’. They also publish more detailed research reports on companies.
